Causes of Nose Bleeding

Nose bleeding is a common problem, especially in summer. When the temperature gets high and dryness increases, it creates many problems. Nose bleed is one of them. During a nosebleed, blood flows from the nostrils. It can be heavy or light. It lasts from a few seconds to 15 minutes or more.

Causes:

Your nose lining contains many tiny blood vessels which are close to the surface and are easily damaged. These things can cause a nose bleed:

  • Cold

Cold increases the risk of nosebleeds to a great extent by irritating the lining of the nose. When you have a cold, do not force it to dispose of out, rather clean it slowly.

  • Sinusitis

Sinusitis is an inflammation of the sinuses causes dryness in the nasal membranes and causes nosebleeds. This problem occurs due to viral or bacterial infection. The problem of sinusitis increases due to allergies or dust and soil.

  • Dry air

Dry air can also be one of the reasons for nose bleeds. When the climate around us becomes drier, you are most at risk of nosebleeds. These blood vessels dilate due to heat. This can lead to infection and heavy bleeding. It can prove to be dangerous for you.

  • Scratch nose

Usually, due to putting a finger in the nose and scratching, blood vessels of the nasal membrane (the middle part of your nose) tend to bleed most quickly.

  • Allergies

Allergies can cause nosebleeds by making your nose wet. One reason for this could be rhinorrhea. Due to this constant irritation, runny nose, and continuous rubbing of the nose tears the nasal tissue and cause bleeding.

  • Anti-coagulant drugs

Taking anti-coagulant drugs can also cause nosebleeds. Consuming Anti-coagulant drugs such as aspirin makes your blood thinner and your nose starts bleeding.

Preventions

You may be frightened of Nosebleeds, but they aren't usually a sign of anything serious and can often be treated at home.

  1. Make sure you take enough water throughout the day because lack of liquid intake throughout the day can lead to dryness in the mucous membranes causing nose bleeds.
  2. Vitamin K and Vitamin C in food help in blood clotting and will stop nose bleeding faster.
  3. Take an ice cube. Just rub ice in your nose to reduce swelling in the blood vessels. It also effectively helps with controlling nose bleeding.
  4. Inhaling steam is a great way to prevent nose bleeding.
  5. To deal with this problem immediately, sit upright and lean forward. By the upright position of your face, you reduce blood pressure in the veins of your nose. Keep the lining of the nose moist.
